Doncaster to get £6million increase in government grants - but extra money is ringfenced for adult social care

Nick Fletcher, Conservative MP for Don Valley, welcomed the announcement and said it was ‘crucial’ the council does ‘not waste this money’.

Hide AdHe said: “I am pleased Doncaster Council will be getting more money to make sure they provide the good quality services people living in Don Valley need.
“This extra money should help the council make positive changes across the area and ensure local people get the crucial local services they rely on every day.
“I will be speaking to council bosses whenever I can to ensure the money is being spent in the right places.”
But Labour mayor Ros Jones said the council had lost millions more since 2010 and 64 per cent of the authority’s budget is now spent on providing care for vulnerable adults and children.

“This is no way to run a country, we urgently need the four-year spending round to get some level of certainty, so we can budget effectively for the long term rather than dealing with short term one off pots of money.
“I hope the Prime Minister will deliver on his promise to level up communities across the whole country, for the sake of Doncaster residents," she said.
